Though it may be hard to swallow, there is a difference between your perception of yourself and the public perception of you. Companies are no different. Branding is everything and to ensure both your perception and the general perception they want to portray are along the same line, companies invest many thousands of dollars every year. Among the many other things that internet has managed to do, redefining marketing strategies is a big one. Today, almost every company has its presence on the web. It is said that almost 94% of products are researched online before they are purchased.  As a result, online branding and marketing is increasingly more important.

mint leafOnline branding no longer means that people have to visit your site, to view or buy your products. People get to know and buy your products, even without visiting your websites.  With Social Media Marketing, your business can be promoted throughout various avenues that were not available 10 or even 5 years ago. Social media marketing is a low cost/high return promotional method and can draw visitors and fans in large numbers. Websites such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are no longer websites for kids; they have now become potent sources of online branding and marketing.

However you need to make sure of a few things before using social media marketing as a part of your online branding strategy.

As with any marketing tactic, maintenance and professionalism is key. Control the urge to join every social media site. Having your presence everywhere may not harm you, but if the site is unmaintained or unprofessional, it may cause visitors to think twice.

Determine which social media outlets are best for you or your product. Remember to choose the right user name, choose the right initial connections and so on. After the first 30 days, make any necessary tweaks to your profiles, have a contest or incentive, post regularly to keep in front of the eyes of your target.

Remember, when it comes to online branding and social media marketing, Content is king. If you are unable to manage these, you can always take help from professionals like Shannon O’Brien Bradley. Shannon has been in the marketing industry for over 15 years now and has considerable experience in the field of social media marketing. Apart from Social media marketing, Shannon Bradley also specializes in, project management and creative services.
